Dr. Sarma completed his MBBS degree from Guwahati Medical College in the year 2003. He completed his internship in the year 2004. In the year 2006, he joined the PG Diploma in Pathology from Assam Medical College and completed the same in 2008.

Dr. Sarma participated in Internal Audit and Quality Management system certificate course as per ISO 15189-2007 and NABL , 112 requirement conducted by FQI. He further also participated in a Internal Audit and Quality Management system certificate refresher course as per ISO 15189-2012 under FQI.
